 | | | Godsmack Acoustic EP Posted By Shadowman (Sat Jan 31 01:10pm 2004) | | | | | Good news for all those Godsmack fans out there, the acoustic EP entitled "The Other Side" which was originally planned for release in November of last year will eventually see the light of day on March 16th.
Sully Erna told MTV.com: "We haven't put it out yet because Faceless still has legs and we didn't want to interrupt the momentum... So we decided to finish up the cycle. Then we can throw out the acoustic record, which will keep Godsmack in the public eye while we take some time off to write the fourth record."
Godsmack will be supporting Metallica on their "Madly In Anger With The World" tour this summer, which kicks off on March 2nd, and may headline some dates of their own on their nights off from the Metallica tour. Watch this space to see if anything emerges...

We have already begun writing the next Shadows Fall album and will keep you updated as it progresses. Once we begin the recording process we will bring you all kinds of fun stuff such as news and photos from the studio. We are also currently reviewing footage for our DVD that we hope to have completed by the spring. You can expect a combination of Cliff 'em All, VH1 Behind the Music, and Jackass. More details will be posted on www.shadowsfall.com as they develop. Finally, we have some leftover merch from our touring in 2003. This is the last time most of this stuff will be made so get them while they last here. Thanks again for a great 2003 and we look forward to an even better 2004! -Matt and Shadows Fall"

Richard is an amazing drummer and we are very happy that we have had the privilege to play with him for the period of time that we did. We are happy to inform you guys that Dirk Verbeuren from SCARVE will be filling in as a session drummer for our upcoming headlining tour in Europe. | | | Spineshank Split Posted By RevMaynard (Sat Jan 10 03:44pm 2004) | | | | | To the suprise of no one, Spineshank have indeed parted ways with vocalist Jonny Santos. Drummer Tommy Decker had this to say:
"The rumor is true. It is an amicable split and is mainly due to musical differences. The four of us have accomplished a lot of things together, the biggest being our most recent Grammy nomination for 'Best Metal Performance' for 'Smothered'. We are all very proud of the music that we have made over the years but the time has come for us all to move on. As for the future of Spineshank ? Mike, Rob and myself will begin the search for a new singer as we write new material and continue to build upon the foundation we have made as Spineshank. We wish Jonny the best of luck in all of his future endeavors."

 | | | More On Chimaira Drummer Posted By RevMaynard (Mon Jan 05 06:27pm 2004) | | | | | Andy Herrick himself has spoken on why he decided to leave Chimaira:
"As many of you might know by now, I have decided to leave my brothers in Chimaira to pursue other interests. This was a very difficult and emotionally taxing decision, and it was something I had been pondering for quite a while. Basically, I am really burned out on the touring lifestyle. It takes a special kind of person to be on the road 3/4 of the year, performing night after night. You have to live it and love it 100% or it will break you down. Unfortunately, the schedule got the best of me. I got to the point where I wasn't having fun performing anymore, and that is extremely hard to deal with. I plan on returning to college to finish my degree that's been on hiatus for 5 years. As far as drumming goes, right now all I know is that I have been very unhappy with my playing for a while, and after some time off I want to really improve in every aspect and become more well rounded as a musician. Perhaps even some session work could be in order in the future. Music has been a major part of my life, ever since I first started music lessons in 1986, and more so when I first picked up a pair of drumsticks in 1988, so we will see what happens in the future. I just want to take everything one day at a time. Chimaira is in good hands now, with Richard Evensand taking over. I had the pleasure of watching him play on two tours with Soilwork, and he is incredible. Trust me, you will all be saying "Andy who?" when you hear him! I'd like to thank my Chimaira bros for five years of great memories and accomplishments, my family and girlfriend for their support, Roadrunner Records, Scott Koenig, Stick Shefrin, Ian Friedman, our road crew, all the great drum companies I've worked with, all the great friends I made on the road, and all the great fans. I am fully confident in the continued success of the band, and I will be there supporting them 100%, just like you all should! Best wishes to everyone, Andy Herrick"

 | | | Andols Herrick leaves Chimaira Posted By Velvet-Darkness (Sat Jan 03 02:27pm 2004) | | | | | Andols Herrick, drummer of Chimaira, has officially left the group. Here is a post by Mark of Chimaira on their forum:
"tis true stuff we have known for a while, it was a long hard desicion for him. as sad as it is, and as much as it sucks for all of you, think how we feel. bottom line, the dude just wasn't happy anymore and there is no sense in torture. andols is going to give me a statement for all the fans and press in the next day or 2. all i can tell you now is that he is going to go to college and his days of drumming are over from what he has told us.
we have found a replacement. we are not stupid people, the sandals are quite hard to fill but we feel we have filled them quite nicely. ricky from SOILWORK is the new dude, he was the guy that temporarily replaced henry on the past tours we did with them. ricky is an AMAZING drummer and will only ADD to the chimaira sound. once again, when it comes to this band we are not stupid people. we would not make the wrong choice with something as critical as this. as far as i know nothing is happening to SOILWORK and we are still as good as friends with them as we were before this choice was made.
this is just another obstacle for all of us to overcome, and as the old cliche goes...that which doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.
at any rate, excuse the poor grammar and spelling, i haven't slept in 40 hours.... be sad, but be excited...nothing is changing for the worse. that has been our mentality for the past month. good night friends and happy birthday to rob arnold 24 today 01.03.04
mark"
