 | | | Devildriver Offered Spot on Opeth Tour Posted By RevMaynard (Tue Dec 23 10:42am 2003) | | | | | It now appears that Devildriver have been offered a spot on Opeth's "Lamentations Over America Tour 2004". That spot was originally meant for Kataklysm. Thus, that prompted Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono to lash out:
"Hey everyone... First I'd like to thank all the people that emailed us rooting for KATAKLYSM to be on the OPETH tour. I'm overwhelmed!
"But today is a sad day not only for KATAKLYSM, but for real metal in general... no disrespect intended towards DEVILDRIVER, 'coz I don't even know the guys personally except for the fact that there's an ex-COAL CHAMBER member... what I'm saying is sh*t happens, we lost the tour... so what, business is business... but to lose it to a band that comes from the Nu-metal era is what I don't get, that style is dead and now they are trying to make themselves look real by getting on real metal tours.
"If OPETH, KATAKLYSM and MOONSPELL would be on a Nu-metal tour we would all get tomatoes thrown at us, but we as real metalheads have to sit back and accept sh*t like this happening to our scene... anyways politics right?
"We will work something out for later next year and I hope to see all them REAL devil horns held high. Thanks to MOONSPELL for offering to share their bus with us and to the agency who booked this for fighting for us!!
"It's been a long week... glad it's over! See ya soon, Maurizio."
To which Devildriver frontman Dez Fafara commented:
"After hearing Maurizio's comment from Kataklysm, I feel I need to respond. I bought your new album and I thought it's great. And good luck with it. Hope to see you on the road?"

 | | | Slipknot's Jordison Comments On New Album Posted By RevMaynard (Tue Dec 23 10:35am 2003) | | | | | Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison recently talked with MTV.com about their next album and had this, among other things, to say:
"The cool thing about [working on this record] was that there was no floor plan," drummer Joey Jordison said. "We got a new keyboard, xylophone, timpani drums ... stuff we've never used before."
"There are more mellow pieces on it," Jordison said. "I don't want to scare anybody, but it's a dark, dark record. The melodies have been taken to a realm where we've never gone before. We've always been good at the heavy stuff, and that's definitely apparent ? that's always going to be there. But we've really taken it to a different extreme this time. I think it's going to surprise a lot of people."
It was also made known that the album has been pushed back a little to May/June of '04. The rest of the story can be read here.

 | | | PM5K Update Posted By RevMaynard (Mon Dec 15 11:36pm 2003) | | | | | Powerman 5000 frontman Spider recently posted an update as to the status of the band and had this to say:
"Hey all, I know it's been very quiet around and there isn't too much Powerman action going on, but I figured I'd drop by with what little info that I have. As many of you have already guessed, we will begin selling Anyone for Doomsday very soon!!! It will only be available online and in somewhat limited quantity. So make sure you order your copy fast. The exact date of release in still up in the air, but think it will be before Christmas. I've seen the new AFD on ebay for big bucks, save your money because we are gonna sell it cheap!! As for the content, musically it will be exactly as the original, though the package is new and it will also contain the 'Bombshell' video. Pretty cool, huh? Also, most of you know that Dreamworks has been bought by Interscope records and in the process eliminating almost all of their staff ( including Fly) and the majority of their artists. I don't believe that PM5K will be making the move to Interscope, which leaves the immediate future somewhat up in the air. Time will tell what comes next.... but I am already planning some exciting sh*t for 2004!!! That's about it for now Powerfans, check back soon for all the info on how to order AFD? Oh yeah, me & Dominique have a happy, healthy baby boy ( thanks for the gift PG5k!!!) ...and one more thing, I am trying to keep Fly on as moderator but without Dreamworks it might be tough, though I do have faith that Fly will return. That's it for now....."
