Chino tells it like it is - revmaynard (Fri May 30 00:21:58 2003) |
In an interview with Revolver magazine Deftones frontman Chino Moreno shared his honest opinion on a few rather well-known bands. See for yourselves:
"A big problem for me was opening for Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, two bands that wouldn't exist if it weren't for me, straight up!"
"Metallica have a vast catalog. But live? Motherf**kers just stand there and play. We're gonna rock out their sh*t. We're gonna blow that motherf**ker up."
"As [Korn] go on, it's the same things — bad childhoods and mean moms. It gets old after awhile. How old is Jonathan? Thirty years old? How long has it been since he lived with his parents? Try to go somewhere else. If you're genuine and write about whatever is drawing the emotion now, you can't be f**ked with."
Simply hilarious. The entire interview can be found in the August issue of Revolver Magazine.

St. Anger video - revmaynard (Fri May 30 00:13:25 2003) |
The video for Metallica's first single off of "St. Anger", due out on June 10th, has been posted on their official site here. However, coming from a longtime Metallica fan, this is a piss poor excuse for a Metallica song. Honestly, it's easily the worst Metallica song ever. Don't even bother downloading it.

Mars Volta Man Found Dead - Complication (Wed May 28 20:07:40 2003) |
27-year old "sound manipulator" of The Mars Volta and Defacto , Jeremy Michael Ward, has passed away from an apparent drug overdose at his home in Los Angeles on May 25, 2003.
He and the rest of The Mars Volta had only just returned to L.A. for a week of rest between legs of their support tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers. No further information is currently available, but members of The Mars Volta have issued a statement saying that they are "devastated" by the loss of Jeremy, who's role in the band went largely unnoticed to the fact that he chose to perform offstage.

Manson debuts at #1 - revmaynard (Wed May 21 23:55:58 2003) |
Marilyn Manson's new cd, The Golden Age Of Grotesque, has hit #1 in it's first week out, selling 118,174 copies. Manson's previous cd, Holy Wood, debuted at #13 with 117,000, while Mechanical Animals also debuted at #1 with 223,000.
If you ask me, this new cd damn well deserves #1. I, as well as most other people it seems, didn't really care for the last two...everyone wanted more Antichrist Superstar, which is what this cd is. It's not Antichrist Superstar Vol. 2, but it has the same feel ACS did, with a slight Mechanical Animals twist to it.

Metal Gods Tour cancelled - revmaynard (Mon May 5 12:36:54 2003) |
The 2003 Metal Gods Tour, featuring Halford, Testament, Immortal, Carnal Forge, Primal Fear, Painmuseum, and Amon Amarth, has been cancelled after just a few shows. Apparantly it's due to "contractual difficulties". Here is the official statement from Halford manager John Baxter:
"I'm sorry to have to report the following, but the tour has to be brought to an end after this weekend's New York performances because of contractual difficulties.
"I learned on Tuesday, that inappropriate activity had been carried out days prior to the Chicago show, without my knowledge and approval. The unapproved activity has financially affected the tour.
"For legal reasons nothing further can be said for the moment. A formal press statement will be prepared after we obtain additional instruction from counsel.
"We know ultimately this affects each of you, so I will look at re-booking some/all of the dates. The dates however, will not include The Metal Gods lineup.
"Please try and provide me with your patience while I review and determine how best to move forward.
"Thank you.
"John Baxter"
However, while not official yet, Halford and Testament will be doing a tour in the markets that were affected by the Metal Gods cancellation.
